Powell said a lot of foolish things today. It was ironic that he began the press conference by praising Paul Volcker and now he's going to resurrect the high inflation that Paul Volcker buried. schiffgold.com/interviews/pete …

The idea that the wants more inflation, as measured by the CPI is nonsense. The Fed only pretends to want higher inflation to justify its policy. The last thing the Fed wants is to fight the inflation that it's creating. The Fed actually wants the opposite of what it claims.

he Federal Reserve left interest unchanged at 1.5% to prop up financial markets and stave off recession. Since artificially low interest rates are increasing the imbalances in the economy and undermining long-term growth, current policy will make the next recession much worse.

Even based on the government's official measure, Nov. consumer prices are up 2.1% YOY and 2.3% YOY when you exclude food and energy. The Fed is not satisfied, and will keep interest rates artificially low and continue QE until the cost of living is rising at a much faster clip!

For MoM private-sector NFP, November's BLS-ADP differential of 187K was the widest since March 2010. Nonetheless, both organizations agree on the longer-term trend’s direction. Both metrics’ YoY 3mMA growth rates declined to their weakest since 1H11.

Former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker died today at age 92. He was the last decent Fed. Chairman. While he rests in peace, the inflation that he helped kill will be coming back to life. While we mourn Volcker, we should also mourn Fed independence and sound money that died with him.
